At Certus Controls we want our site users to always be aware of any information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.

Information Collection and Use

Certus Controls respects each site visitor's right to personal privacy. To that end, we collect and use information throughout our website only as disclosed in this Privacy Policy. This statement applies to information collected on this website and through the CertusAlert mobile app.

In order to use this website, visitors and/or customers are not required to complete any registration forms.

Should a registration form be completed, a user must give certain contact information. We never sell or give away information, it is only gathered to contact the user about services on our site for which they have expressed interest.

Remember that registration is not required to use our site. Cookies must be enabled to log in to our website. The cookies' sole purpose is to remember your unique session ID. During login, your IP address is recorded to prevent access by unauthorized parties.

Certus Controls has a “Contact Us" form. We require information from the user on the “Contact Us" form. Users must provide contact information (such as name, email, and address) in order to have a representative contact you.

Certus Controls never sells or shares email addresses.

The CertusAlert Mobile App

CertusAlert delivers building automation alarms to authorized site staff. It collects only what is required to do that.

• Push notification token - when you connect the app, Android and Firebase Cloud Messaging issue a token identifying that installation on that device. The app sends this token to our api servers, where it is stored so alarms can be routed to your device. It is a device identifier. It changes if you reinstall the app or clear its data.
• Alert Address - the site address you enter when connecting. It identifies the building whose alarms you receive, not you personally. It is stored on your device and sent with every request to our servers.
• Alarm Content - alarm subjects, sender addresses and message bodies generated by the building automation system. These are delivered to your device, stored on the device so they remain readable offline, and retrievable from our servers so the app can catch up on alarms received while it was closed.
• App Version - sent with registration so our servers can tell the app when a version is too old to operate correctly.

The app does not collect your name, email address, phone number or any password. It requires no account registration and no credentials. It does not collect location data, contacts, photos or other device content, and it does not use an advertising identifier. No analytics or crash-reporting software is built into the app. The app displays no advertising.

Solely to deliver and display building alarms to authorized site staff, and to notify you when the app needs updating. It is not used for advertising or profiling, and it is never sold or shared with other organizations for commercial purposes.

Certus Controls servers store the device token, its site association and alarm records. Google Firebase Cloud Messaging is the delivery mechanism for push notifications on Android and processes notification content in transit in order to reach your device; see Google's privacy policy. No other third party receives this data.

All communication between the app and Certus Controls servers uses HTTPS. Alarm data held on your device is stored in the app's private storage, which Android isolates from other applications. Alarm messages are displayed with scripting disabled and are never loaded from a remote page.

Alarm records are retained on our servers so a reconnecting device can catch up, and on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.

To delete your data, use Disconnect in the app. This removes the device registration from our servers along with its badge counter and notification preferences, and stops all further alarm delivery to that device. Uninstalling the app removes everything held locally. For deletion requests that cannot be completed in the app, contact support@certuscontrols.com.

The CertusConnect Mobile App

CertusConnect provides a mobile interface to a building automation system for authorized site staff. The app communicates directly with the building automation server you configure; Certus Controls operates no servers for this app, and no data from the app is ever transmitted to, stored on, or passes through Certus Controls systems.

• Site connection details - the server address and building automation system login credentials you enter when adding a site. These are stored on your device in the app's private storage and are transmitted only to that building automation server in order to sign in. They are never sent to Certus Controls or anyone else.
• Building data - equipment values, page content, schedules and alarm records read from the building automation system while you use the app, along with small display caches (recent readings, option lists) kept on the device so pages appear quickly on return visits. This data describes building equipment and its operation, not you personally.
• Display Preferences - settings such as your choice of measurement units, stored on the device.

The app does not collect your name, email address, phone number or location. It requires no account registration with Certus Controls. It does not access contacts, photos or other device content, and it does not use an advertising identifier. Solely to display and operate the building systems you are authorized to access. Nothing is used for advertising or profiling, and nothing is ever sold or shared with other organizations for commercial purposes.

Only the building automation server you connect to, which is operated by your building or by Certus Controls. No other party receives any data from the app.

The app connects only to the server address you enter, over your building's own network or remote-access arrangement; network security is governed by the building's network configuration. All data the app holds: connection details, credentials, cached building data and preferences; is kept in the app's private storage, which iOS isolates from other applications.

Everything the app stores lives on your device. Deleting a saved site in the app's settings removes that site's stored connection details, and uninstalling the app removes all data the app holds. Because Certus Controls stores no data from this app, there is nothing to delete on our side.
